Why does my chihuahua play with my new puppy but never played with my other dog?

I have a 5 year old chihuahua who definitley fits all the chihuahua stereo types. We had another Shitzu who was 7 years old. She would try to play with my chihuahua but my chihuahua never played with her. It was almost like she was too good to play with her. We recently had to put our shihtzu to sleep. My chihuahua didn't really seem upset even though she had lived with her her entire life. No we have a new shihtzu puppy and my chihuahua plays with her nonstop. My chihuahua is also not as snippity with her. I was just curious to why? You would think she would hate a new puppy, but she seems to love her.
