How can I get my 7 yr old teacup chihuahua to not pee all over my apartment?

Jul 11

I moved in with my fiance and he has a teacup chihuahua and she is so cute and I love her so much but, But I can't take her usint the bathroom everywhere. She has about 4 spots where she uses the bathroom. I have the puppy mats down but she will still use the bathroom on the carpet around it. I take her out as soon as I wake up and about 3 or 4 times during the day and before I go to bed and she still pees in the apartment. Last night she peed on my couch and that is the first time she has ever done that in her life. What can I do with this dog?

every time she pees indoors, (i know this sounds mean, but it’s wat ur supposed to do) smack her back (above her butt) and say “bad dog” she’ll stop soon enough
if u catch her as she’s about to start, pick her up and run outside and set her down

    hope this helped
(it’s the same for both cats and dogs)
u can also say “no” if ur dog knows that word

tie her outside and never let her in your apartment
or put a diaper on her. or move away from your b/f

the thing is that she feels threatened by you. you moved in and she feels like youre a rival trying to take her place. dogs are very territorial, and they have a sense of hiararchy, so she is at the moment trying to figure out whos the queen of the castle. your boyfriend needs to show her that their relationship is not threatened by you moving in. both of you need to show lots of affection. however, every time she pees, stick her nose in it and put on a tone of voice that will tell her she did somthing wrong. have a punishment thing for her, so that every time she pees, she is punished, like closed in the bathroom for 30 mins, or something else she doesnt like. after you put her nose in the puddle, clean it up with a wet cloth and then soak the mat in that odor so that it smells like pee. have just one mat in the house, so that the dog isnt confused because for her, frankly there is no difference between the rug and the mat, especially when there are lots of mats and rugs around. when the mat smells like pee, show her the mat and be affectionate, so that in your dogs mind affection and going on the mat are united. reward her with a treat when she goes on the mat. take her out three times a day and definitely after a meal. this will probably take weeks, so be patient. and by the way, even after training, they still sometimes go in the house. they are only dogs after all :) good luck!

I have a 3 year old that did the same thing until recently. What I do is lock her in the kitchen if I leave with a puppy pad and a small kennel for her to sleep in. I let her out in the morning then anytime when I get home, if I am home all day I let her out about every two hours or so. When she does go pee I scold her, show her what I didn’t want her to do and leave her outside for a while I know this sounds mean, but I didn’t know what to do for like a year and this is the only thing that has finally worked. Try for a while to make sure you keep an eye on her/him so you can catch her/him in the act. Also Scrub the shit out of the spots were the pee, because if the smell is still there she/he will not want to stop going there. Good luck!!!! I know it is tough.

Restart proper house trainig: 1. Whenever she’s not being watched by you or your fiance (even when you’re home) crate her. Introduce the crate by keeping it on the floor and open for a week. Throw treats into it occasionally. If you don’t want to crate her when you’re home, keep a leash on her and tether her to you. That way she can’t sneak away and pee. 2. When you take her out, reward her immediately (while you’re still outside standing in the area she used). Treat rewards given after you get back inside make a dog think that it’s receiving a treat for walking back inside. 3. Collect a urine sample and bring it to your vet. Or, have the vet collect one. She could have a bladder infection. 4. If you catch her in the act, try to startle her so she stops. Rush her outside. If you find a puddle, and she’s already done and gone, it’s too late for meaningful punishment. 5. Use an enzymatic pet odor eliminator on spots she’s used. Never use anything containing ammonia. It smells just like urine to a dog. Nature’s Miracle works well.
    Best of luck!

you will have to either get rid of her or take her to like pets mart to have her trained.
